The organizational structure of the Department of Health and Human Services includes a Chief Executive Officer who is appointed by the Governor and subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the members of the Legislature.
The department has six divisions: Behavioral Health, Children and Family Services, Developmental Disabilities, Medicaid and Long-Term Care, Public Health, and Veterans’ Homes.
The directors of the divisions are also appointed by the Governor and subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the members of the Legislature. The division directors report to the CEO. A Chief Operating Officer, in charge of Operations that support the Department, also reports to the CEO, as does Communications and Legislative Services, Legal Services, and the Information Systems and Technology sections.
