YRTC-K Employees to Be Recognized as
DHHS Employee and Supervisor of the Year

October is Nebraska State Employee Recognition Month

Lincoln—Two employees from the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Kearney (YRTC-K) are being recognized as Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) employees and supervisors of the year.

Steven Hurt, a facility maintenance technician, and Levi Hadley, a youth counselor supervisor, will be recognized as an employee and supervisor of the year, respectively.
October is Nebraska State Employee Recognition Month and each October state agencies are allowed to select one employee and one supervisor/manager of the year for every 500 people employed by the agency.

“These employees and supervisors are an inspiration to all of us and I want to thank them for their hard work and dedication,” said Courtney Phillips, DHHS CEO. “It is a true honor to be nominated by your peers for this recognition.”

Hurt was nominated by his coworkers for his pleasant attitude and dedication to YRTC-K and the youth it serves. They also said he “always takes time to work with the youth and to make sure they are acknowledged.”

Hadley’s coworkers nominated him because he is easy-going, caring and “has a good rapport with the staff he supervises.” They also noted Hadley’s willingness to go “above and beyond” and said that he is a great role model for YRTC-K’s staff and youth.

DHHS’ employees and supervisors of the year, including Hurt and Hadley, will be honored on Thursday, October 29 with a reception with Gov. Pete Ricketts at the Capitol Rotunda, a reception at the Governor’s Residence and a DHHS recognition at the Cornhusker Hotel.

YRTC-K is part of DHHS’ Division of Children and Families.
