Veterans’ Home Aims for Perfection

Bellevue – For the fifth year in a row, Eastern Nebraska Veterans’ Home in Bellevue was deficiency free on its annual survey with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
A team of eight experts from many parts of the country spent three days at the home reviewing standards related to life safety, environment, staff training/development, dietary services, finance/member banking and billing, activities, medical staff/credentialing, social services, and areas related to quality assurance and care but they did not find any deficiencies. One of the primary surveyors commented that in her four years surveying other facilities this is the first time the survey team left with no recommendations or negative comments for a nursing home.
John Hilgert, Director of the Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs, commented “Our great survey results are a testament to the well qualified and dedicated team at ENVH and to the positive culture and support offered by the Nebraska Veterans’ Homes team, the governor and the legislature for making the Nebraska Veterans’ Homes second to none in the country.”
The Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home is located at 12505 South 40th Street in Bellevue and is one of four veterans’ homes in the state. The other three State Veterans’ Homes are located in Norfolk, Scottsbluff and Grand Island.
