Department of Health and Human Services to Hold Hearings September 15 on Proposed Changes to Medicaid Regulations
Lincoln – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is holding hearings on proposed changes to Medicaid regulations on Thursday, September 15, in the Nebraska State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lower Level, Conference Room A, in Lincoln.
Public Hearing at 10:00 a.m. CT
The DHHS Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations related to Medicaid payment for hospital services.
The proposed changes will bring the regulations into compliance with federal law which requires states to prohibit Medicaid payment for hospital-acquired conditions. These are conditions that are a result of avoidable inpatient hospital complications and medical errors that are identifiable, preventable, and serious in their consequences to patients.
Public Hearing at 1:30 p.m. CT
The DHHS Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed regulations related to non-emergency medical transportation paid by Medicaid. These regulations would reflect current Medicaid policy and provide for a contracted transportation broker to perform all administrative functions. The proposed regulations establish:
- Covered and non-covered services;
- Authorization, billing and payment requirements;
- Background checks and other requirements for provider participation.
Anyone may attend and comment at the hearing or submit comments in writing. Written comments will be given the same consideration as comments made in person. Written comments must be postmarked or received by 5:00 p.m. CT September 17 and should be sent to DHHS Legal Services, 301 Centennial Mall South, P.O. Box 95026, Lincoln, NE 68509-5026, fax 402-742-2382, or e-mailed to DHHS.RulesandRegs@nebraska.gov. Copies of written comments and names of persons submitting them will be available after the hearing from DHHS as above.
