Oral Health Town Hall Meeting to be held in North Platte
Lincoln—The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is holding a town hall meeting in North Platte on Monday, September 19th, to get public input on the state’s Oral Health Plan. It will be held at the West Central District Health Department, 111 N. Dewey St., from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
“Input from this meeting will help DHHS develop a State Plan that fits the needs of all Nebraskans,” said Dr. Joann Schaefer, Chief Medical Officer. “The goal of the plan is to achieve the best possible oral health care for everyone.”
This meeting is one of a series that DHHS hopes will bring together local dentists and hygienists, health officials, and members of the public who have questions or concerns about oral health information and services in Nebraska.
There will be a brief presentation on the plan by the Office of Oral Health and Dentistry, followed by an opportunity for public feedback. A summary of the plan will be available. The entire draft plan can be found on the DHHS website at http://www.dhhs.ne.gov/publichealth/Pages/dental_index.aspx. An online survey form provides an opportunity for input.
Dentists and health care workers are encouraged to attend to offer their insight on local resources and challenges in oral healthcare.
“The plan is a living document that will be shaped by the input of stakeholders, followed by the development of a broad-based coalition that will refine and implement it,” Dr. Schaefer said.
