Live Your Life Like it’s Your Favorite Song

DHHS Launches Round Two of TUNE

Note: Sound bites on this topic are available at: http://www.dhhs.ne.gov/Pages/audio.aspx.

And live a life full of peace and joy, don't let nobody persuade you
from the smarter choice, follow your heart and use your brain that’s
what forms your voice, now let your soul sustain you, then you shout rejoice!

Where does nonsense fit in between me and the promise,
I will not let pain ever defeat my happiness.
Cause we have overcome, see we have overcome.

Lyrics from “Overcome” by Zach Watkins and
Ishma Valenti - Round two TUNE artists

Lincoln – Ready for a new round of TUNE?

“Believe in the power of music. Music can motivate, energize and inspire. Everybody can name a song they connect with, that’s been meaningful in their lives,” said Dr. Joann Schaefer, Chief Medical Officer and Director of Public Health for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). “Our goal with TUNE is to use music to empower young women and men to choose a healthy lifestyle early on and take control of their future.”

TUNE is a unique and interactive health and wellness program that helps young people make positive choices and live healthier lives through music.

The new TUNE artists were selected through a contest that received more than 180 entries of original songs and poetry. Seven winners were chosen - five from Nebraska, two from Iowa.

Meet the new artists. Hear the new songs. Watch the videos. Find out what inspired them and what can inspire you at www.tunemylife.org. Nebraska was one of 13 states to receive a federal funding to develop an information campaign geared towards getting health-related messages to young women and men. The TUNE concept is based on market research. TUNE uses many ways to promote its music and messages including the TUNE website, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. DHHS also works directly with various partners to help bring TUNE to their communities. The first round of TUNE artists launched in spring of 2010.
