Department of Health and Human Services to Hold Hearing August 18 on Changes to Medicaid Regulations

Lincoln –The Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care in the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is holding a hearing on Thursday, August 18, in the Nebraska State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lower Level, Conference Room A, in Lincoln. The hearing will begin at 10:00 a.m. CT.

This hearing is being held to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations regarding the treatment of a Veterans Affairs pension for veterans in nursing homes who are eligible for Medicaid. The proposed changes will:

  • Provide that a veteran receiving a VA pension also receive a $50 personal needs allowance;
  • Provide for the exclusion of Medicare set-aside accounts as a resource in determining eligibility; and
  • Update language, remove duplication and incorporate specific exceptions.

Anyone may attend and comment at the hearing or submit comments in writing. Written comments will be given the same consideration as comments made in person.
