Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home Receives Perfect Score

Lincoln--The Eastern Nebraska Veterans’ Home (ENVH) recently received a “perfect score” on their annual survey by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This means the facility had no deficiencies in the areas of life safety, environment, staff training/development, dietary-food service, finance-member banking and billing, recreation/activities, medical staff-credentialing, social services, and many areas related to quality assurance and care.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services—Division of Veterans’ Homes includes four facilities: in Bellevue, Norfolk, Grand Island, and Scottsbluff.

The VA survey team was comprised of seven experts from different parts of the country and was complimentary of the facility’s staff and service. Some of their comments included: “Dr. Cotton is a credit to all veterans.” “Wonderful staff/member interaction.” “One of the cleanest buildings I have seen.” “The maintenance team had all systems in perfect order.” “Nursing staff were very attentive.”

According to Jeff Smith, the facility’s administrator, the excellent survey “is a credit to the 140 staff and their genuine commitment of service.” Smith said he is honored to be part of the Nebraska Veterans Home System, which “serves America’s heroes so well.”
