Tell Us What Should be Considered for the Next DD State Plan

Lincoln – People with a developmental disability, their families and friends, advocates and anyone else who’s interested can make suggestions on the next State Plan for developmental disabilities.

“Our current three-year State Plan ends this June, and we need your ideas,” said Jodi Fenner, director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities in the Department of Health and Human Services. “It’s important to build the State Plan on a foundation of stakeholder input, and we’re hoping for large turnouts at the meetings.”

The State Plan helps set the future direction for publicly-funded services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities. This comprehensive, integrated statewide plan is required by statute through the Developmental Disabilities Services Act.

“We’ve also looked at needs identified by other organizations to make sure we have as much information as possible as we move forward,” said Fenner. That review included the Nebraska Developmental Disability Council’s Needs Assessment and the Nebraska Advocacy Services, Inc. Strategic Plan.
