DHHS to Hold Two Hearings February 19 in Lincoln

Lincoln – The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care will hold two public hearings February 19, 2009. These hearings will take place in Lincoln at the State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South in conference room ‘LLA.’

Public Hearing at 9:00 a.m. CT

The Division is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations for the Nebraska Medical Assistance Program, also known as Medicaid. DHHS is proposing to follow federal Medicare standards and deny Medicaid payment for hospital claims that are identified as non-payable by Medicare as a result of a hospital acquired condition. This provision will apply only to those claims in which Medicaid is a secondary payer to Medicare.

Public Hearing at 10:00 a.m. CT

The Division is holding this hearing to accept comments on the repeal of Title 480, Chapter 8, Early Intervention Medicaid Home and Community-Based Waiver. Based on recommendations of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, the Department ended the Early Intervention Medicaid Waiver for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities. The children covered by that Waiver have been transitioned to the Aged and Disabled Waiver, allowing DHHS to continue to provide services coordination and other services to eligible infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families.

Anyone may attend and comment at these hearings or submit comments in writing. Written comments must be postmarked or received by 5:00 p.m. CT, February 21, 2009. They should be sent to DHHS, Regulatory Analysis and Integration, 301 Centennial Mall South, P.O. Box 95026, Lincoln, NE 68509; faxed to 402-742-2382; or e-mailed to
