Lincoln – The 8-year-old Indiana boy who was left at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha on November 6 is returning to Indiana and to the custody of the Indiana Department of Child Services. “I appreciate the assistance and cooperation of the Indiana Department of Child Services so this youth can safely return to his home state,” said Todd Landry, Director of the Division of Children and Family Services in the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. The Indiana Department of Child Services completed an evaluation and assessment of the situation, and an Indiana court ordered that the child be placed into their custody. The Douglas County Attorney agreed that this was in the child’s best interest. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is no longer involved in this situation. A Nebraska DHHS employee will accompany the youth on his return to Indiana.
