Lincoln - Todd Landry, director of the Division of Children and Family Services for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), said a 14-year-old boy has returned to California and will be placed in the custody of the Yolo County Department of Employment and Social Services. The youth was left at the Kimball County Hospital on November 21.“I appreciate the assistance and cooperation of the Yolo County Department of Employment and Social Services so this youth can safely return to his home state,” said Landry. The Kimball County Attorney agreed that it was in the child’s best interest to return to California. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is no longer involved in this situation. A Nebraska DHHS employee accompanied the youth on his return to California.
