DHHS to Hold Four Hearings December 4 in Lincoln

Lincoln – The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will hold four public hearings December 4, 2008. All these hearings will take place in Lincoln at the State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South in conference rooms which are listed for each hearing below.

All interested persons are invited to attend and comment at the hearings or to submit comments in writing. Deadlines for written comments are included at the end of each hearing section below. Public Hearing at 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 6Y

The DHHS Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations for the Nebraska Medical Assistance Program, also known as Medicaid. The proposed changes provides that, effective January 1, 2009, all payments made for services under the Nebraska Medical Assistance Program will be made by electronic funds transfer (EFT) to the providers who supplied the service.

Written comments must be postmarked or received by 5:00 p.m. CT December 4, 2008.

Public Hearing at 9:00 a.m. CT in Lower Level Conference Room A

The DHHS Division of Public Health is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations for Control of Radiation. The proposed regulations will make changes required by the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in order to maintain “agreement state status” and compatibility with federal standards, and other federal standards. The proposed regulations also include compliance with standards required by other federal agencies.

Public Hearing at 1:00 p.m. CT in Lower Level Conference Room A

The DHHS Division of Public Health is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed new regulations for Shipment of High-Level Radioactive or Transuranic Waste. The new regulations relate to the establishment of a fee for shipping these across or through the state.

Public Hearing at 2:00 p.m. CT in Lower Level Conference Room A

The DHHS Division of Public Health is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations for Asbestos Projects. These regulations govern the licensure of asbestos businesses and persons working on an asbestos project or in an asbestos occupation in Nebraska and will implement provisions of the Uniform Credentialing Act (UCA).

Written comments for the Division of Public Health hearings must be postmarked or received by 5:00 p.m. CT, December 6, 2008.
