DHHS to Hold Several Hearings May 22 in Lincoln

Lincoln – The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care will hold several public hearings May 22, 2008. The hearings will take place in Lincoln at the State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lower Level Conference Room ‘A.’

The Division is holding these hearings to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations for the Nebraska Medical Assistance Program, also known as Medicaid.

The Department is no longer considering changes to regulations regarding "billing the client" which were also scheduled for the May 22 hearing. The remaining proposed changes will be considered as originally scheduled.

Public Hearing at 9:00 a.m.

The proposed change will establish a $1000 fiscal year limit for dental services for adults.

Public Hearing at 11:00 a.m.

The proposed change will limit Medicaid coverage of replacement hearing aids for adults to every four years if medically necessary and revise the prior authorization process for hearing aids to require prior authorization on purchases that exceed $500.

Public Hearing at 1:00 p.m.

The proposed changes will limit Medicaid coverage of outpatient medical rehabilitation visits for adults to 60 visits per fiscal year. This includes occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy provided as outpatient services in an office setting or in an outpatient hospital setting.

Public Hearing at 2:00 p.m.

The proposed change will limit Medicaid coverage of chiropractic treatments for adults to 12 treatments per calendar year.

Public Hearing at 3:00 p.m.

The proposed change will limit Medicaid coverage of eyeglass frames or lenses for adults to one pair in a 24-month period.
