Please consider running this as a Letter to the Editor:
Imagine you’re a child whose life is in crisis due to neglect, abuse or abandonment by your family. You pack a few belongings and then you’re taken to a foster home and a new family, and you’re scared and confused. This is the world that more than 3,000 children face each year in Nebraska.
Nebraska’s foster parents welcome these children and youth into their hearts and homes, bringing stability and love into their lives. I want to personally thank each of our more than 4,100 foster parents for making a positive difference every day. These individuals are true heroes and one of our state’s most incredible resources.
You can help change the life of a child, too. More foster parents are needed all across our state, especially for sibling groups and older youth. If you are interested in learning more, take a few minutes and call 1-800-7PARENT to find out how you can become a foster or adoptive parent.
