Department of Health and Human Services to Hold Hearing August 21 on Funeral Directors, Embalmers, Funeral Establishments 

Lincoln –The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, is holding a hearing on proposed regulations related to the licensure of funeral directors and embalmers and funeral establishments and branch establishments on Thursday, August 21, at 1:30 p.m. CT, in the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln, 301 Centennial Mall South, lower level conference room A.
The proposed regulations on funeral directors and embalmers will establish definitions and set out the requirements for initial, reciprocity and apprentice licenses, including examination requirements and continuing education, and grounds for discipline of a license.
The proposed regulations for the licensure of funeral establishments and branch establishments include definitions, qualifications for licensees, manager responsibilities, requirements for amending and renewing a license, standards for funeral services, requirements for transportation and disposition of bodies, inspection standards, requirements for documentation, physical structure, equipment, and supplies, and grounds for discipline of a license.
All interested persons are invited to attend and comment at the hearings.  Written comments are also welcome and will be given the same consideration as comments made in person.  Written comments must be postmarked or received by 5:00 p.m. CT the day of the hearing, and should be e-mailed to, faxed to 402-742-2382, or sent to DHHS Legal Services, 301 Centennial Mall South, P.O.
