DHHS Mental Health Traveling Career Fair to be Held Oct. 10

Lincoln – Considering a job in mental health services? The state of Nebraska wants to talk to you on Oct.10, which, fittingly enough, is World Mental Health Day.

DHHS Talent Acquisition team members Holly Socha, Nichole Newland, Geana Blythe, Jess Duensing and LaDene Madson will visit four Lincoln-area colleges to promote DHHS mental health employment opportunities.

“Mental health professionals are the unsung heroes of the medical field,” said Mark LaBouchardiere, director of DHHS Facilities. “The primary mission of our Regional Centers is to provide person-centered care, and our teammates play a critical role in that process.”

“We hope that potential employees will learn about the different opportunities DHHS has to offer, specifically in mental health services,” said Socha. Many of the open positions are at the Lincoln and Norfolk Regional Centers, which are recruiting mental health security specialists and nurses. “Providing the care in these two positions (mental health security specialist and nurse) is not just providing direct care, but what we like to call people care. People Care is building long-term relationships with the individuals you have served while providing that ongoing treatment to them.”

“In other words, it’s not acute care, it’s providing ongoing care,” said Newland. “Something we all must remember is that there really is no health without mental health.”

Stops and Locations:

  • Nebraska Wesleyan: 10am-12pm, 5000 St. Paul Ave., Lincoln: Great Hall of the Smith-Curtis Building
  • Southeast Community College Lincoln; 8800 O Street, Lincoln: 11:00 am -1:30 pm
  • Southeast Community College Education Square, 1111 O St., Lincoln: 2-3:30 pm
  • Southeast Community College Beatrice Campus, 4771 W Scott Road, Beatrice: 10:30 am-12:30 pm

“Linking our mission of helping people live better lives with promoting these crucial positions is a true example of why we do what we do,” said Socha. “We love what DHHS stands for and can’t wait to add potential employees to our team to follow and lead with our mission to our community.”

The Talent Acquisition team is also seeking a psychiatric director, psychiatrists, psychologists and a health administrator, said Socha.
