EBT-EDGE App Now Available for SNAP Recipients to Manage and Monitor Benefits
Lincoln – A new application for smart phones and other mobile devices is making managing and monitoring benefits in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) a lot easier for those who rely on the program for food stability.
“This app makes it even easier for SNAP users to get the information they need, when they need it,” said Matt Wallen, Director of the Division of Children and Family Services. “Using technology to enhance customer service and provide immediate answers to SNAP users’ questions is another example of how our agency is always seeking new ways to help Nebraskans live better lives.”
Nebraskans can now use their mobile phones or tablets seven days a week, 24 hours a day to check their balance, review deposit and transaction history and to locate retailers that accept SNAP benefits.
The EBT-EDGE app is free of charge and is available for download at Google Play for Android users.  iOS device users can download it from the App Store.
Approximately 80,000 Nebraska households are enrolled in the SNAP program.
Leveraging technology to increase effectiveness of services is a deliverable identified in the latest DHHS business plan.
