Governor’s Office, Health and Human Services Augment Medicaid Leadership Search
LINCOLN – Today, the Governor’s Office and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) CEO Courtney Phillips said they have engaged Ford Webb Associates, Inc., a national search firm, to augment their efforts to hire a permanent director for the agency’s Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care.
“Our priority is to identify the best person to serve the people of Nebraska and lead our Medicaid program,” said Phillips. “I believe our ongoing efforts will result in finding that person. In the meantime, I have the utmost confidence in Rocky Thompson.”
Phillips said in addition to Nebraska, 10 other states and one territory are currently recruiting a Medicaid director and the national firm will leverage DHHS search efforts.
Ford Webb Associates, Inc. previously assisted with the recruitment of DHHS CEO Courtney Phillips and former Medicaid director Calder Lynch.
Thomas “Rocky” Thompson, Medicaid deputy director for policy and communications, has served as interim Medicaid director since Calder Lynch resigned in May to accept a position with the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The Nebraska Medicaid program pays for medical care for over 230,000 of the state’s most vulnerable citizens.
