LaBouchardiere Named to National Committee

Lincoln – Mark LaBouchardiere of Kearney has been named a member of the Staff Wellness Committee of the American Correctional Association (ACA). He is the administrator of the Office of Juvenile Services in the Division of Children and Family Services at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services working with the agency’s youth-serving facilities in Kearney, Geneva, Hastings and Lincoln. LaBouchardiere was previously the administrator of the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Kearney.

The new committee was created at the ACA’s 2017 Annual Congress of Correction. An ACA-passed resolution urges agencies to educate employees about the benefits of maintaining wellness on the job with an emphasis on employment-related stress.”
LaBouchardiere will take part in encouraging adult and youth agencies across the country to develop and implement wellness initiatives for employees.
“Staff wellness activities are critical to improve the health of our team members so they can perform their jobs to the best of their ability,” LaBouchardiere said. “This also means trauma-informed, physical and mental health care for employees as well as healthy lifestyles. Going forward, wellness will help with team morale, improved culture and staff retention, positively impacting the environment for the individuals being served. I’m excited to begin work on the committee.”
The ACA’s mission is to improve the justice system. ACA audits adult correctional and youth rehabilitation facilities to their established industry standards. Both Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Centers in Kearney for young men, and Geneva for young women are accredited by the ACA, as well as the entire Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
