Members Sought for Professional Boards

Lincoln – The State Board of Health is seeking members to serve on several health care boards.  Professional boards provide recommendations to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for issuing licenses to health care providers. Terms are five years long and most run through November 30, 2022, but there are also several vacant partial terms available. The following boards have vacancies:

  • Board of Alcohol and Drug Counseling:  Alcohol and Drug Counselor
  • Board of Athletic Training:  Public Member
  • Board of Cosmetology, Electrology, Esthetics, Nail Technology, and Body Art:  Tanning Salon Owner, Public Member
  • Board of Funeral Directing and Embalming:  Public Member
  • Board of Hearing Instrument Specialist:  Otolaryngologist
  • Board of Medical Nutrition Therapy:  Medical Nutrition Therapist, Public Member
  • Board of Mental Health Practice:  Certified Marriage and Family Therapist
  • Board of Nursing:  Public Member
  • Board of Physical Therapy:  Physical Therapist
  • Physician Assistant Committee:  Physician Assistant
  • Board of Psychology:  Psychologist
  • Board of Registered Environmental Health Specialists:  Public Member
  • Board of Respiratory Care:  Public Member

Public member applicants must be 19 years old, be a resident of Nebraska for at least one year, must not hold an active credential in a profession subject to the Uniform Credentialing Act, must not be or have been employed by a facility subject to the Health Care Facility Act, and must not be the parent, child, spouse or household member of a person currently regulated by the board to which the appointment is being made. 

Interviews will be conducted on September 17 in Wahoo. Applications must be received by September 4, 2017.
