October is Nebraska State Employee Recognition Month
Lincoln – An employee of the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Kearney (YRTC-K) is being recognized as one of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) supervisors of the year.
Chad Cooke, a youth security supervisor, was recognized as supervisor of the year.
October is Nebraska State Employee Recognition Month and state employees whose job performance exceeds the highest standards are recognized.
“These employees and supervisors are an inspiration to all of us and I want to thank them for their hard work and dedication,” said Courtney Phillips, DHHS CEO. “It is a true honor for them to be nominated by their peers for this recognition. Chad exemplifies the DHHS mission of helping people live better lives.”
Cooke was nominated by his coworkers because he, “always responds kindly and has the right answer for his staff.” They went on to say that he is “willing to teach and takes the time necessary to make sure staff knows how to go about dealing with a situation.” They say that he has the ability to listen to what others have to say and stay focused.
DHHS’ employees and supervisors of the year, including Cooke, will be honored along with all employees and supervisors of the year on Wednesday, November 2 with a ceremony with Gov. Pete Ricketts in the Capitol Rotunda and a reception at the Governor’s Residence.
YRTC-K is part of DHHS’ Division of Children and Family Services.
