BSDC Employees To Be Recognized as DHHS Employee and Supervisor of the Year
October is Nebraska State Employee Recognition Month
Lincoln – Two Beatrice State Developmental Center (BSDC) employees are being recognized as employees and supervisors of the year for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Michael Powell and April Wagar will be recognized as an employee and supervisor of the year, respectively.
October is Nebraska State Employee Recognition Month and each October state agencies are allowed to select one employee and one supervisor/manager of the year for every 500 people employed by the agency.
“These employees and supervisors are an inspiration to all of us and I want to thank them for their hard work and dedication,” said Courtney Phillips, DHHS CEO. “It is a true honor to be nominated by your peers for this recognition.”
Powell was nominated by his fellow employees who said he has been “a constant, solid role model.” They noted that Powell has been at BSDC for many years and his dependability and knowledge make him a helpful mentor for new staff.
Wagar’s coworkers said she is “looked up to by staff and is often sought out for feedback and advice from coworkers.” Nomination forms for Wager also noted her flexibility and willingness to help others.
Powell and Wager will be honored along with the rest of DHHS’ employees and supervisors of the year on Thursday, October 29 with a reception with Gov. Pete Ricketts at the Capitol Rotunda, a reception at the Governor’s Residence and a DHHS recognition at the Cornhusker Hotel.
BSDC is part of DHHS’ Division of Developmental Disabilities.
