Area Foster Parents to Be Honored May 3 at National Foster Care Month Event
Grand Island – More than 300 people are expected to attend a recognition of foster parents and families on May 3, at the Evangelical Free Church, 2609 S. Blane St., in Grand Island hosted by the Department of Health and Human Services and eight foster care providers.
The event is part of the organizations’ observance of National Foster Care Month in May, said Nichole Hersh-Eilenstine, DHHS resource developer supervisor.
Foster parents and families in DHHS’ 23-county Central Service Area are invited and will be honored during the event for their years of service, providing permanency, providing kinship care, and one foster parent or family will be announced as the outstanding foster parent of the year.
The other agencies collaborating in the event are Boys Town, South Central Behavioral Health Services, KVC Behavioral HealthCare, Mid-Plains Center, Building Blocks, Compass, Christian Heritage, and Nebraska Children’s Home Society.
