DHHS Receives Grant for Planning Services for Children and Youth with Serious Emotional Disturbances

Lincoln—The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health, has been awarded $504,413 from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as a system-of-care expansion planning grant.

The purpose of the one-year grant is to develop a comprehensive strategic plan to expand and sustain the system-of-care approach to providing services for children and youth with serious emotional disturbances and their families.

“The planning that will occur through this grant is intended to improve services and various systems to address the behavioral health needs of children and their families in Nebraska,” said Scot L. Adams, director of the Division of Behavioral Health. “The focus will be on systems of care to help coordinate resources in communities to improve a young person’s health and well-being.”
