Mental Health Awareness Walk at the Lincoln Regional Center on Friday

Lincoln—A walk promoting mental health awareness will be held this Friday, October 4th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on the Lincoln Regional Center campus, 801 West Prospector Place, in Lincoln.

The purpose of the walk is to celebrate the unity of mental health consumers, community supporters and mental health professionals in a shared vision of hope for recovery and ongoing mental health treatment.

One in four adults experiences a mental health problem in any given year. One in 17 lives with a serious, chronic mental illness.

“Many people in our community are directly affected by mental illnesses,” said Scot L. Adams, director of the Division of Behavioral Health at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. “The good news is that treatment does work and recovery is possible.”

The event is sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services’ Division of Behavioral Health and the Network of Care.
