Artist at Lincoln Regional Center on Oct. 10th

Lincoln—An Artist of the Arboretum show will be held on Thursday, October 10th  at 9:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Regional Center, Folsom and W. Prospector in Lincoln, in the lobby of the Administration Building. The featured artist for the month of October is Troy Spencer, of Lincoln.
Spencer is a self-taught artist who is experimenting with acrylics and finds his inspiration in everyday life.
He said he tries to pay tribute to his Native American and African American ancestors and honor them with his art.  “It’s a way to express my pride in what I am and where I come from.”
“Art can contribute to wellness for consumers of mental health services,” said Carol Coussons de Reyes, administrator of the Office of Consumer Affairs in the Division of Behavioral Health, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.  “Art can create community through appreciation.”
To view the art and meet the artist you can come to the Administration Building on campus at 9:30 on Thursday, October 10th. The art exhibit in the lobby is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
