Department of Health and Human Services to Hold Hearing November 7th on Proposed Regulations

Lincoln – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is holding a hearing on proposed changes to  regulations related to the Medicaid payment for the cost of child care for children with disabilities at 10:00 a.m. C.T on Thursday, November 7th,  in the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln, 301 Centennial Mall South, lower level conference room D.

The proposed changes will bring Nebraska Medicaid into compliance with federal Medicaid requirements for medical necessity and with the child care service definition in the federally approved Aged and Disabled Waiver application.

With these changes, Medicaid will pay for the medical or disability-related services above the cost of routine child care, with the parent or primary caregiver having responsibility for the basic cost of routine child care. Approved providers will receive the same rate of pay as before, dividing their charges between routine and medically necessary costs.

Anyone may attend and comment at the hearing or submit comments in writing.  Written comments will be given the same consideration as oral comments.  Written comments must be postmarked or received by 5:00 p.m. CT on the day of the hearings and should be sent to DHHS Legal Services, 301 Centennial Mall South, P.O. Box 95026, Lincoln, NE 68509-5026, fax 402-742-2382, or e-mailed to
