ACCESSNebraska Phone Number to Change Feb. 15 for Lincoln-Area Clients

Lincoln – Starting Feb. 15, clients in the Lincoln area calling ACCESSNebraska to apply for, check and change benefits will call 402-323-3900 instead of the toll-free number, said Thomas Pristow, director of Children and Family Services in the Department of Health and Human Services.

Pristow said the move to a local number will cut phone costs about $300,000 a year. The new number is only for clients with a Lincoln address who will not incur a long-distance charge.

“The phone number change for Lincoln-area clients will save citizens a considerable amount each year,” he said. “We are sending information to clients, our community partners and advocacy organizations to alert them to the change.”

He said Lincoln-area clients who call the statewide phone number on and after Feb. 15, will receive a recorded message to call the local number.

DHHS also is looking at changing to a local number for Omaha-area clients, which would provide even greater annual savings, he said.
