Department of Health and Human Services to Hold Hearings
December 26th on Proposed Regulation
Lincoln - The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care, is holding hearings on proposed regulations related to Medicaid. The hearings will be held on Thursday, December 26th in the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln, 301 Centennial Mall South, lower level conference room A.
At 10:00 a.m. CT
This hearing is being held to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations related to Medicaid payment for hospital services. The proposed changes will:
Provide for Medicaid hospital payment rate adjustments based on legislative appropriations; and
Provide for use of a software application that assigns/classifies patients into categories based on severity of illness and risk of mortality. This categorization will be used to determine hospital reimbursement by Medicaid. This change is necessary because without it Medicaid will be unable to process hospital claims when a new medical classification list is implemented nationally in October 2014.
At 11:00 a.m. CT
This hearing is being held to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations related to Medicaid payment for non-emergency medical transportation. The proposed changes will:
- Clarify that transportation provided by a vehicle in the household owned by a legally responsible individual for the client will not be reimbursed by Medicaid;
- Require provider compliance reviews; and
- Change references from “mental retardation” to “developmental disabilities.”
Anyone may attend and comment at the hearing or submit comments in writing. Written comments will be given the same consideration as oral comments. Written comments must be postmarked or received by 5:00 p.m. CT on the day of the hearings and should be sent to DHHS Legal Services, 301 Centennial Mall South, P.O. Box 95026, Lincoln, NE 68509-5026, fax 402-742-2382, or e-mailed to DHHS.RulesandRegs@nebraska.gov
Draft copies of the regulations are also available at the office of the Secretary of State, 402-471-2385, or call DHHS Legal Services at (402) 471-8223.
