Ribbon Cutting at the Hastings Regional Center Cemetery Sept. 28
—A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the Hastings Regional Center
cemetery for a new memorial garden honoring the people who lived and died there.
“The garden is a way to recognize that the graves at this cemetery represent people who deserve to be remembered and accorded respect,” said Scot L. Adams, director of the Division of Behavioral Health at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
The new garden includes a monument, a bench and plantings of flowers and bushes, surrounded by a fence on the cemetery grounds.
A moment of silence will be observed at 3:10 p.m., followed by the reading of the names of the 1,432 people who are buried there.
The event is open to the public. The cemetery is located at the southwest end of the grounds. Directional signs will be posted.
