Department of Health and Human Services to Hold Hearing November 1 on Proposed New Regulations Regarding School Health Screenings
Lincoln –The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health is holding a hearing on proposed new regulations that will provide direction to Nebraska schools in carrying out their statutory requirements for health screenings for students.
The hearing will be held at 1:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, November 1, in the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln, 301 Centennial Mall South, lower level conference room A.
The proposed regulations will:
  • Describe required screening measures;
  • Provide a schedule of minimum screenings;
  • Describe qualified screeners;
  • Provide for parent refusal to have their child screened at school; and
  • Incorporate physical examination and visual evaluation standards.
Anyone may attend and comment at the hearing or submit comments in writing.  Written comments will be given the same consideration as oral comments.  Written comments must be postmarked or received by 5:00 p.m. CT on November 1 and should be sent to DHHS Legal Services, 301 Centennial Mall South, P.O.
