Department of Health and Human Services to Hold Hearings June 21 on Proposed Medicaid Regulations
 
Lincoln –The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is holding three hearings on proposed changes to Medicaid regulations on Thursday, June 21, in the Nebraska State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, in Lincoln, conference room Lower Level A.
 
Hearing at 9:00 a.m. CT
 
The Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations related to payment for injectable medications administered by a health practitioner.
 
Hearing at 10:00 p.m. CT
 
The Division is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations to provide for the coverage of lawfully present children and pregnant women with federal-state matching funds and eliminate state-only-funded coverage for legal permanent residents.  (These regulations are not affected by LB 599 (2012), which requires implementation of a separate Children’s Health Insurance Program for unborn children of pregnant women who are otherwise not eligible for Medicaid.) 
 
Hearing at 1:30 p.m. CT
 
The Division is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations regarding Medicaid managed care.  The changes outline procedures and protocols for the expansion of managed care statewide.  The changes include:
  • Statewide coverage area;
  • Enrollment and transfer protocols;
  • Procedures for the assignment of primary care providers;
  • Requirements for third-party liability;
  • Expectations for the development of patient-centered medical homes; and
  • Eliminating medical transportation services.

Anyone may attend and comment at the hearings or submit comments in writing.  Written comments will be given the same consideration as oral comments.  Written comments must be postmarked or received by 5:00 p.m. CT on June 21 and should be sent to DHHS Legal Services, 301 Centennial Mall South, P.O.
