Department of Health and Human Services to Hold Hearings September 29 on Proposed Changes to Medicaid Regulations
Lincoln –The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is holding hearings on proposed changes to Medicaid regulations on Thursday, September 29, in the Nebraska State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lower Level, Conference Room F, in Lincoln.

The Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations related to copayments for certain Medicaid services. The proposed changes will:
- Establish copayment amounts for durable medical equipment, generic and brand name drugs, inpatient hospital admissions, and mental health/substance abuse visits;
- Clarify eyeglass and hearing aid services subject to copayments; and
- Add an exemption from the copayment requirement.

The Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care is holding this hearing to accept comments on proposed changes to regulations relating to Medicaid hospital payment rates. The proposed changes will reduce inpatient and outpatient hospital payment rates by 2.5 percent to implement budget reductions by the 2011 Nebraska Legislature. This reduction will include hospitals reimbursed under the Diagnosis Related Grouping (DRG) payment methodology, critical access hospitals, acute rehabilitation hospitals, inpatient psychiatric services and distinct parts of hospitals, which are Medicare-certified, hospital-based substance abuse, psychiatric or physical rehabilitation units.
Anyone may attend and comment at the hearings or submit comments in writing. Written comments will be given the same consideration as oral comments.
