Lincoln – The Department of Health and Human Services is hosting an open house at a new North Omaha office July 31. The office houses teammates from the divisions of Children and Family Services and Medicaid and Long-Term Care and is designed to provide services where needed.

“We have chosen to celebrate our strengthened connection with the North Omaha community during Native Omaha Days to demonstrate our commitment as a community partner," said Dannette R. Smith, DHHS Chief Executive Officer. “We are meeting people where they are, respecting and honoring their local culture and aligning our services with the needs of those we serve."

The office has design, colors and artwork that directly reflect the North Omaha Community. DHHS is designing local offices to better reflect the communities they serve across the state.

Services available to the public at the new office include application processing and servicing for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and other economic assistance programs.

The move toward more community-based service delivery is part of a transition in the Omaha area that also includes a new child welfare case management provider.
