Lincoln – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will host a drive-up career fair in Beatrice on Friday, Sept. 25, inviting applicants interested in working with clients at the Beatrice State Development Center (BSDC). Full-time, part-time and on call opportunities are available.

The career fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Department of Labor parking lot located at 2317 N. 6th St. in Beatrice. Participants are asked to wear masks to the event, which will be socially distanced.

DHHS is recruiting for BSDC developmental technicians and developmental disabilities safety and habilitation specialists who are engaged each day in supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in their home, work and skills development.

In addition to these core responsibilities, developmental disabilities safety and habilitation specialists help provide a structured, therapeutic environment for clients, as well as implement, observe and record activities as part of an individual's treatment and support plan.

BSDC teammates are passionate about supporting others and bring high degree of integrity in their work with children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Those with experience in this field are encouraged to apply.

Applicants for the specialist role must be at least 19 to work with adults and 21 to work with adolescents. Technician applicants must be at least 18. Both roles require a valid driver license and the stamina to complete physical tasks, in addition to the completion of position-specific training after hiring.

The safety specialist pay range is $14.91 to $15.35 per hour. The technician pay range is $11.45 to $13.63 per hour, and both positions are eligible for additional shift differential paid for second and third shift, as well as overtime pay.

Working with teammates who are passionate about their work, a retirement match of 156 percent, paid leave, and student loan forgiveness opportunities for full-time teammates are a few reasons to consider a career at DHHS.

Teammates will be available to discuss and answer questions about open positions, DHHS benefits and the application process.

Those unable to attend the career fair can explore career opportunities with DHHS online at https://statejobs.nebraska.gov/.
