Lincoln The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will hold a public hearing to receive additional comments on the adoption of amendments to Title 172 NAC 23 and 24.

172 NAC 23 - Licensure of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists -- The proposed changes remove all duplicative statutory language from the regulations and remove any repetitive regulatory language that is found in 172 NAC 10. The proposed changes revise definitions; clarify professional experience; clarify online continuing education; clarify the activities that constitute unprofessional conduct; return Poster Sessions to the list of acceptable continuing education; include a change in the amount of time accepted for continuing education from 1 credit hour for each attendance to .5 credit hour; and update formatting. 

172 NAC 24 - Registration of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants -- The proposed changes remove all duplicative statutory language from the regulations and remove any repetitive regulatory language found in 172 NAC 10.The proposed changes revise definitions; revise direct onsite supervision to closed circuit transmission; and update formatting.

Authority for these regulations is found in Neb. Rev. Stat. § 81-3117(7).

The hearing will be held at 1 p.m. CDT, Friday, April 10, at the Nebraska State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln, Nebraska, Lower Level Conference Room A.

In accordance with new guidelines influencing the size of gatherings, the public hearing will be limited to eight (8) in-person attendees. The guidelines were issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19.

Interested persons are also invited to submit written comments.
